Frequently Asked Questions

Bid Estimating Services FAQs

What is a construction bid estimate?

A construction bid estimate organizes the anticipated quantities and costs associated with the defined project scope. Contractors use this information when reviewing risk, developing their price and preparing a commercial proposal.

How much does a bid estimate cost?

The service fee is determined after we review the drawings and bid requirements. Project size, complexity, trades, drawing quality, addenda, output requirements and available turnaround all affect the quotation.

Which documents should I provide?

Please provide the latest drawings, specifications, schedules, invitation-to-bid information, scope instructions, addenda, bid forms and any known pricing requirements. We also need the project location and submission deadline.

Do you prepare the quantity takeoff as part of the bid estimate?

Yes, quantity measurement can be included in the service. We can also work from an agreed quantity schedule supplied by the client when appropriate. The selected approach is confirmed in the quotation.

Can you estimate only my subcontractor trade?

Yes. We can prepare a trade-specific estimate when the bid documents contain sufficient information for the requested work package.

Can you work to my bid deadline?

We review every requested deadline against the project size, scope, document quality and current workload. A typical turnaround is approximately seven working days, but the actual delivery date is confirmed before work begins.

What happens if an addendum is issued?

Send any addendum or revised drawing immediately. We will assess whether it affects the agreed scope, fee or delivery date. Revision work is included only when stated in the quotation or subsequently agreed.

Do you submit the bid on behalf of the contractor?

No. Unless separately agreed in writing, BRAND BOA prepares estimating information only. The contractor remains responsible for reviewing the estimate, making commercial decisions, completing the required bid forms and submitting the final proposal.

Do you guarantee that the client will win the bid?

No. Bid outcomes depend on price, competition, qualifications, methodology, schedule, buyer requirements and many other factors. Our service provides estimating support and cannot guarantee contract award or profitability.

Do you accept projects outside the United States?

Yes. The United States is our primary market, but we also accept suitable projects from the UK and other countries. Currency, units, terminology and regional pricing requirements are agreed in advance.
